Yes you are correct , monumental schoolboy error, the shot of a 1960's routemaster trundling through a post-war stricken london rather spoiled the feel of the whole episode for me. Also who dares wins cock-up. contestants were asked to name countries with red in their flags, nick accepted the answer finland as correct ???

Assuming you're right, that's a shame, as the producers of FW are usually pretty accurate with this stuff. I do remember, however, when we took our school group on a mock WW2 evacuation, we hired a 1940s Routemaster of a type that was still in public service in the 1970s and was still being used regularly by the hire company for school runs in the 1980s. Could it be you remember it from the '60s (as I do), or are you one of those walking bus encyclopedia people like the ones at our local transport museum (in which case, that's disappointing on the producers' part)?

The Finnish state flag is a variant of the national flag and has a red-coloured coat of arms in its centre. Assuming the contestants weren't being specifically asked for a national flag then the answer would be correct.
I must say I was surprised to see a Routemaster bus in sevice in London in 1945 as they didn't start service until 1956. I had to look twice, but I'm sure it was a Routemaster. Just shows how London Transport managed to develop the bus during the war years, according to Foyles War!
My apologies. It seems the first Routemasters were built in 1954 (never could do numbers). Hang your heads in shame with mine, Messrs/Ms Passmore, Thomson and Green!!
RT buses are still available to hire ( pre routemaster ) 1946 was ten years earlier than the RM entering service. So much for continuity.
