I've always got an editing cursor (flashing vertical line) regardless of what webpage I'm on - I'm using Firefox. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Is there a setting I need to change?

A browser will normally show the "select text" pointer if the cursor is over text. This does not flash. Do you perhaps have a Firefox add-on that allows editing of web pages?

Another possibility is that you are using an animated cursor set and the wrong cursor has been selected for "select text". You can check this in Control Panel / Mouse / Pointers.

If neither of those solves the problem, you could just try uninstalling FF and re-installing it (or better still installing Chrome instead).
