If you want to see proper rowing races come to Whitby Regatta in August.
There are none of those poncey lightweight boats with sliding seats.
We have good solid wooden boats it takes 10 grown men to lift into the water and the rowers all have blistered thighs and hands. The boats sometimes sink, there are frequent collisions and fights often break out.
