i baulk at putting together any flatpack furniture, i only tried one once and that was an unqualified swear a lot disaster.
Gness ...but...I....don't.....milk goats !! Lol
I think my DIY skill are pretty good. The reason for this is (I think) when I was a child I copied what my dad did and would take things to pieces to see how they worked.
More recently if something breaks (eg washing machine) I look on Youtube and usually find a clip showing me what to do.

/// as for hanging a picture, any fool can knock a picture hook in a wall but how many bother to use a spirit level to align the frame for accuracy? It may sound like a simplistic job but that's only where accuracy is not required. ///

A spirit level? That's a little O.T.T. isn't it, surely one can see if the picture is level just by looking at it?
I am terrible. I used to try and had a whole array of power tools. But my attempts would inevitably go very very wrong. I used to phone my brother to come and put them right. Eventually he gave me a very stern talking to and said "I don't mess with the law; you shouldn't mess with power tools - putting a cocked up job right is far harder than doing it right from the start so just right a list and I'll come every 6 months and sort it all out".
What skills do you have, what are you good at, Aog?

Mine are pretty good, unless its flat pack stuff from ikea.
Until I had a stroke in 2000 I used to do everything myself from changing a plug, I was an electrical engineer, to brick laying, not very fast but very good. The only thing I was never any good at was hanging wall paper, no matter how I did it, it never came out right.
Traci - don't talk about Ikea stuff. I was once building a coat rack thing. I got SOOOOO angry with it, I hit it with a hammer and split one of the pieces of wood (well I don't think it was exactly wood).

I can do most things, but they get less as age is catching up on me now.

I have repaired cars, changed engines, carried out most plumbing and electrical jobs, made a shed, a gazebo, laid a patio, a garden pond, hung wallpaper including ceiling paper, fitted carpets, shelves, curtain rails, hung doors, and when younger I was very interested in sketching and photography...................

You've tired me out now.
