Accident On Roundabout With Lorry
Hi,
I was driving and indicating to go right on a round about. The round about jad three lanes. A lorry was besides me also turning right. However half round the round about the lorry driver encroached onto my lane hitting the side of the ar and damaging it. When eventually pulled over he got abusive and said it was my fault, of which i dont think it was. Any help much appreciated

I don't think it will matter if you were in error as he should still have checked his left hand side, but it will maybe clarify things for you. Were there any witnesses, say a passenger in your car?
roundabouts are a notorious area for insurance claims, even the non fault companies steer clear of these types of claims.
I dont normally defend lorry drivers but it can be extremely difficult for them to stay in their lane due to the turning circle of the vehicle.
I work in MK which has dozens of roundabouts i always give lorries the right of way and back off, especially when im in the outside lane.
( it can be even more fun when the lorries are foreign and havnt got a clue where they are going)

If the HGV was an artic, the trailor would have crossed the line of the lane, with respect, you should have given the HGV plenty of space & hung back, For the driver to seen you & look ahead can be very difficult due to the height of the cab, some have STEP MIRRORS to see cars / bikes that come up on the inside & out of his / her view, do you have any witnesses? Lesson learnt here, give HGVs plenty of space, you can see him /her, but they can not see you.
