Using Ethernet Adaptors

I wish to transmit the Sky programmes from my lounge Sky+ box to my TV in my Dining room via Mains Ethernet Adaptors. The ordinary Sky Box (in use at present) does not have Ethernet socket input so I have purchased another Sky+ box as a replacement. There is, of course, only one sky input cable so I will only be able to receive one channel which is not a problem. My question is, am I right in thinking I will only be able to receive the same channel on Dining room TV as in Lounge by using the Ethernet connection. Any advice in performing this type of connection will be very much appreciated. Tel

Do you know if this will work? I didn't think sky boxes would work without a card in, with the exception of freeview channels. When we wanted sky tv in another room without purchasing multiroom, we bought a Magic Eye, it worked a treat but you do have to watch the same channel that the sky box is on.

I'll be interested in the techies answers to this.

I may be wrong, but I think the ethernet port on the back of a Sky box is for plugging in a Broadband Router so you can use the Sky OnDemand service (to download programs from the internet to your Sky box).

I dont believe you can just plug in an ethernet cable and send the picture to another TV.

The ethernet port is for networking use only - you won't get "pictures" out of it. If you want the video from the box sent elsewhere either use a cable from the RF2 output to the other location or use the scart output via a videosender of some sort.

I really can't recommend a videosender - there are many variants with a wide variety of success, some interfere with wi-fi and others are cheap & nasty. Best results will come from a co-ax cable connected from the RF2 output. If you put a magic eye on it then you can change channel from the 2nd location. Go look on the satcure.co.uk site - they specialise in this sort of thing.
