I am (still) upgrading an Acer TravelMate for my 8 year old grandson. I have now upgraded it to xp pro and increased the memory by 1gb. However, I wish to upgrade the memory further up to maximum
2 gbs.

There are 2 memory slots in the laptop but I can only find one. I have now used the no.2 slot with the new 1 gb memory. However, I cannot locate the original no.1 slot where the original 256 mb is located. My intention is to dispose of the 256 mb and replace it with a second 1gb memory. Can any aber tell me where the no.1 slot could be situated? Trust I'm being understood! You will understand I'm not too technical. Thank you in advance.

It may be "fixed" memory so cant be removed/replaced.

I like the way you say you have "upgraded" to Windows XP, a version of Windows that first shipped in 2001, 12 years ago.

WyeDyed, I have previously looked at video of the actual Acer model on e.how (really good site) and I still could not locate the slot. Though, unlike youtube, I only had to unscrew 4 screws to insert the memory as pictured in the User Guide. I actually think AVG must be right insofar as it is a 'fixed memory'.

By the way AVG, this laptop is about 10/12 years old and it was originally Windows XP Home Edition, and in my wisdom (I knew even less then) I changed it to XP-Pro! Not a good idea. Someone else on here asked me why I did that, and I had to admit that I didn't really know why.
Don't think I'll ever make computer techi …........
