How does that metal waist thing work when he cut Sheridan smith in half with the chain saw at the end. The Saw must be real, any idea anyone?

Being a TV drama they can do a trick which even a magician couldn't perform in real life. I would think the idea was to show something that make the characters in the show look like very good magicians.
