Tablet - Internet Security Needed?

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, and can't find any definitive answers as to whether I need to put some sort of internet security on - there seem to be mixed messages when I look online. Any advice anyone please?

Go to Play and download an anti virus programme, I have AVG. If you want a firewall you have to root your tab unfortunately.

Two reason you need antivirus software:
1. Banking
2. Installing apps from third party markets

Otherwise, you do not need antivirus software.

Thanks for your answers, helpful as always - I'm not planning on doing banking on it, and only use Google Play for apps, so I guess I'm okay as I am for now.

Snags, I'd read of people who downloaded this security. Does it slow your tablet down in any way at all?
