You know how you picture people who you've never met and usually get a shock / surprise when you do meet. Well I have been playing scrabble on line for a while and with one player in particular, chatting away to this woman, things I wouldn't necessarily say to a bloke, just found out that said woman is in fact a bloke. Has this ever happened to you?

no, not chatting on line, i would find that too risky, intrusive.
Online I assume the other person is either very young or very old and don't use slang, swear or tell risque jokes.

Very boring, I am
No, I never make assumptions... nice avatar pic BTW.

I didn't say anything risqué etc, just told him where I was aching when I was I'll one time.
I think I probably would have asked early on. I like to build up a mental picture of some people.
No, but my friend was widowed in October and has been trying to rebuild his life. He has been on at me about this lady called Tracy (no connection with Traci66!) She randomly friend requested him on facebook. She has been asking him details etc, and he has been obsessed! I checked out the profile, and the rather manly looking bird had their hand over 'her' neck, looking like hiding an adam's apple. THEN, I noticed that she has 57 friends - most people have more than this. Then, when I delved further, every friend was male! Not only male, but certainly over a certain age. When I looked into the males profile, they were all widowed.

I tried to gently warn my friend. I didn't want to blow his confidence, but I didn't want anyone to take my bestest mate as a fool. No, he would not listen. 'I' was the foolish one. But he phoned me the other day and said 'that Tracy bird is a sham. She's been asking me my address and bank details'. Apparently, she was stuck in Kuala Lumpur and needed to get back to the UK

I'm not always right, but I had a hunch from the off.
There are quite a few people on here that I don't know whether they are male or female, im sure ive seen much evidence to suggest one way or the other but due to memory problems it just doesn't log in and stay there so I always make my comment to be taken by both sexes unless I know for sure.

Lol Traci66, I did assume so ;-)
Minty, you've stolen my identity!!
.......but send me your bank details as I am stuck in Nairobi !!...lol...
In my first job, I had to deal by phone with the fire etc claims office of a large insurance company, and rather liked the voice of "Miss Robertson" (things were done on a more formal basis back then).
I finally had occasion to visit in person to deliver some documents, and was most disappointed when she invited me to her retirement party the following Christmas! I had pictured her as a twenty-something redhead.
Now there's a coincidence
Murraymints, in t'internet terms, I can do one better than yoo, and guess wot? It's all trooL Well....now you ask I'm 5'12'' have a cascading mane of blonde locks..21 years old...size 8....with a dazzling smile..riverside mansion and Limousine on the drive...when it's not outside my Mayfair pad...
I learned very early on in my career that however a person appears on paper has absolutely NO reflection on what they are like in real life and more importantly what they might be like in the witness box.
I used to talk to a chap online that would often refer to himself as a woman, as he felt he should have been a woman. I found it hard to get my head around him referring to me and him as us girls knowing he was actually a man. But sometimes I found that I could talk to him about anything that wasn't usually make up and painting my nails. But if you feel that at ease then it shouldn't be a problem
AD...but do you bank at Coutts...holiday at neckar...and....have your name down for first passenger flight to space.....with....GEORGE CLOONEY ????
as liam neeson's already spoken for I s'pose somebody had to make do with clooney..

..now where's that bloody butler
I find it difficult to tell online if someone is male or female from their avatar.
