Water On Socket?

When plugging in the kettle about 20 minutes ago, I am certain that I felt a splash back of water. The plug socket is next to the kitchen sink. Being rather sleep deprived,I might have imagined the splash, but I am sure it came from the plug/socket. I've checked the area but cannot see any water. The socket IS, however, next to the sink. I'm too worried to turn the switch on to make a cuppa, and too scaredy-pants to take the plug out!

If there was a little water on the plug, do you think it'll be ok to use in the morning? OH is alseep and I'm off to work in a mo and this will be on my mind all night!

If the area is dry, and the circuit breakers haven't tripped, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks Hopkirk. I would presume if there was a problem, I would've noticed over the last half hour, electrics scare the hell out of me!

unless you have very old wiring you will have a circuit breaker that cuts off the power before you can even feel a shock but use a pair of rubber household gloves to remove the plug if your doubtful, did you drop the plug in the sink what makes you think it got wet if you did not, a socket should not be close to a sink anyway, cant you use another socket for your kettle?

deggers, I will use the other sockets from now on. I swear I felt a splash of water on my arm as I plugged the kettle in. We had electrical tests earlier this year and everything was deemed safe. If there was water, it could only have been a small amount as I would've noticed when plugging in.
