A Question For Non-Believers
50 Answers
Why is it that the Christian faith is ridiculed so much on AB? How come there is never anything said about Buddhism, Hinduism, the Jewish faith and Islamic faith? There are many derogatory remarks made about Jesus.

I'm unsure any faith is singled out for ridicule, but where someone desires to make a point then I guess they compare against the religion they are most familiar with. Often the same point applies to many anyway. Apart from that, much discussion is a reaction to a believer's thread and it is the OP that sets the context.

First of all, i don't believe that the Christian faith per se is mocked, more often people 9and i count myself among them) take issue with the smug and superior attitude exhibited regularly by people like newlife on the Religious threads.
He asks a Question, waits for a number of asnwers, non of which are ever going to satisfy him, and then he copies and pastes screeds of scripture to back up his belief that he knew the correct answer all along.
Asking anyone a question simply so you can smugly give them the answer you want is arrogant, pompous and unpoleasant, and it is that approach that gives Christians (but not Christianity) a bad name.
I understand that the nature of faith in Christ is that you are tested all day every day in small and large ways, and living as a Christian means that you accept those tests and attempt to overcome them.
I would say that some criticisim of individuals with their 'I have something you need, but you are too stupid to know that, so hold still while I talk down to you ...' posts is pretty small issue in the wider scheme of things.
In other words, if you have a faith - and I assume you do? - then this is part of it. If like me you do not believe in God, then you are spared this angst and can go about your life being happy and contented.
Food for thought?

idiosyncrasy - that question is beyond my remit to answer. I am not a Christian and i do not believe in God, so i am not qualified to pronounce on what if any testing Christians receive.
I do know that the religious teaching i receive as a regular attender of Catholic Mass infers that being a Christian is pretty tough to achieve, and leading a life by God's teaching is something Christains aspire to.
As an atheist, i live a blissful test-free life, which suits me just fine.
