Holidaying Whilst Off Sick
11 Answers
I had a minor operation on my shoulder a few weeks ago and expected to be back at work this week. Just after the operation I booked a holiday abroad as part of my recouperation and informed my boss that I would be booking it off when I returned. Things have not gone to plan though and my GP has told me not to go back to work for 3 more weeks to rest my arm completely.
There is no reason why I cant go away but will this affect my sick pay (I get full salary) or will I still book it as annual leave, or (worst case scenario) would I have to cancel it ??

Sick pay doesn't mean you have to be home in bed. People off with depression for example are encouraged to get out and about. An explanatory call to your manager should eliminate your concerns (if you'e feeling a bit guilty).
