Holidaying Whilst Off Sick

I had a minor operation on my shoulder a few weeks ago and expected to be back at work this week. Just after the operation I booked a holiday abroad as part of my recouperation and informed my boss that I would be booking it off when I returned. Things have not gone to plan though and my GP has told me not to go back to work for 3 more weeks to rest my arm completely.
There is no reason why I cant go away but will this affect my sick pay (I get full salary) or will I still book it as annual leave, or (worst case scenario) would I have to cancel it ??

You have been off work a few weeks and are off for 3 more weeks. Why don't you go away while you are off sick, instead of going back to work and having another two weeks off? I don't think your boss would appreciate all this time off especially if he is paying you.
Who is going to carry the suitcases?
I think what ab is asking is can they go away in the three week extension to the sick leave, although it's not clear.

Hi smurf
Sorry - I think I may have confused you - I am away on holiday WHILST I am off sick - I booked it before I knew that I was still going to be off work - that was the point of my question.
If you're signed off as not fit to work I don't think you can change it to leave anyway. Sick pay doesn't mean you have to be home in bed. People off with depression for example are encouraged to get out and about. An explanatory call to your manager should eliminate your concerns (if you'e feeling a bit guilty).
Oh, I see. Well I think if you have a 'sick note' or whatever you get from the doc, to say you are having three more weeks off sick, that is nothing to do with your holiday leave. Not sure though, perhaps other ABers will correct me if I am wrong.
You cannot use leave whilst off sick - so go ahead and enjoy some sunshine! I wouldn't go blagging about your holiday upon your return, though. It may rile your colleagues.
Where I work, if you are off sick and get signed off every couple of weeks for post op recovery or other illness, your manager has to keep in touch with you on a regular basis. Contact is usually made every 2 weeks as part of our sickness procedure/policy.
Where I work, if you have booked a holiday which then happens to be at the same time as you are off sick, the holiday takes precedent over sick leave. So I couldn't return to work and then say I hadn't had my holiday. That's how it used to be, anyway!
