Lots of machines have cold feed only these days Cully. They all have a heating element to get the water up to temperature. Either fit another cold connection to your plumbing, or use one of these......... http://www.screwfix.com/p/washing-machine-y-piece-bsp/81000

It depends if the machine has a facility to heat water - mine doesn't, it takes it from the hot water supply.
There will be an element for heating in there, so cold -fill should be OK. However, it won't be "double-quick"!

This is a hot and cold fill machine. The cold water is added if the hot water is hotter than the temperature setting for the wash. It won't have a water heater incorporated.
Oops. Thinking of something else...ignore.
...so, if your hot water isn't THAT hot and you want to do a 90C wash, what happens?
