Just looked at TV listings for this evening and see that cookery is on three channels. Don't you think that this could be contributing to the obesity problems that we read about nearly every day? Why is the media so obsessed with food?

No not really, from what I can make out it seems obesity is caused by a bad diet with people eating a lot of processed foods, if they were inspired by the TV programmes they'd be cooking their own and would probably be healthier.
Because it's cheap to make the programmes!
I agree with rocky. A love of real,home-cooked food does not usually make people fat. If more families went back to cooking from scratch,we'd not have the obesity epidemic we have now. It's all due to a reliance on packaged, artificial rubbish with too much salt and sugar as main ingredients.
Far too many cookery programmes....about time there were more on sewing, knitting and crochet.
I'd rather watch paint dry ^^^
Johnny Depp knits, Psyb...x

Why are all these 'programmes turned into a competition. The sight of a grown man sitting on the floor in front of a glass fronted oven with tears in his eyes because his cake was not rising was the last straw for me.
I rest my case, gness
I know just what you mean, Leah.....okay cooking can be fun I suppose but the drama is beyond a joke.....x

Psyb...couldn't recall who you fancy to tease you with...not the gorgeous Depp I fear. ;-)

Don't know about obesity, but there are far to many of them, but then I suppose its cheap. They would bore me witless so avoid them all.
I'm fat and have never seen a cookery programme on TV
