desktop background won't stay

I know that this problem isn't life threatening but whenever i upload my computer the desktop background changes to that blue default bakground, however when i get my properties up to reset it, it reads that my background is of the one i chose and not the default, so then i have to apply that default blue background then pick another. It would be real nice if someone could help. thx!

i'm running windows xp

view the image in windows XP default picture viewer (when you double click the jpg image), and select "Set as Desktop Wallpaper" or whatever this says.

my desktop used to revert to an old color then i tried that and it stuck... it might for you, hope it does :)
