when I went to see a lady I used to work with she was getting in the washing, she made a cuppa then started ironing duvet covers, she said excuse me doing this, but I want to take these back to the shop later, turned out she had had them on the beds for a couple of months then decided to redecorate, so washed the covers with the intention of taking them back and changing them for a different colour, she says she often does that and always keeps the packaging and reciept, I watched her repack them expertly so she has obviously done it many times, I was horrified and told her so, she laughed at me, what do you think?
when I worked in a dress shop in my teens, the manager used to take dresses home to wear then bring them back - that seemed illegal to me.... but using bedlinen, sleeping in it, laundering it, then taking it back is just WRONG.
My great aunt used to do this with fur coats. She'd have some grand occasion to attend, would buy the fur, wear it and return it. This had advantages 1) other people got the impression she had a lot of furs, since she would turn up in different ones 2) where she had accounts, she didn't have to pay in the first place . I don't think she owned a fur coat, certainly not one new and of the quality she "bought".
There is no concept of "theft of use" in English law, save for in taking a motor vehicle without consent. There was in Ancient Rome. The Romans had "furtum usus" ( theft of the use). Perhaps there was a Roman M & S that got fed up with this abuse and got the law written to accommodate it.
we were out for dinner with friends, i told my friend she had left the label on her dress and id take it of for her............she said no dont. im returning it tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!!
no, I don't think she decorates often at all joko, that was just the excuse for that occasion, I don't know how often she's done it, but it was'nt the first time the way she got it all folded and packed to perfection, I dont think I would be able to get it back in the packing at all, I used to like her, but don't anymore, and next time I buy bedding I will wash it before using it, just in case.
