Would A Gps App On A Mobile Cost To Use?

OH has a new phone and is happily playing with it.It is connected to out home wi fi .He has made no calls,just sent a couple of texts,but has been playing with a few apps(sky news,weatherbug,nothing much)mainly a GPS one.

The thing is his credit has fallen by about £4 and we cannot figure out where the money got spent.

Any ideas?
We are both very green when it comes to mobiles and app and data settings etc so any advice(apart from put it down and walk away)would be great

Using GPS alone won't cost, but many apps that use GPS, then download info from the Net (for example, maps, weather data, and so on). Having said that, most phones will always use WiFi as the preferred download connection as long as it's available.
