If you don't want to know who the murderer was - look away now!

Now the programme has been shown is anyone the wiser?

The anagram letters form the shaded squares in the crossword were KBTCOEAT

The only one word suggestion discussed was Beattock. The murderer was the man running the Post Office, Wallace Clarke.

Have I missed something obvious?

It's meant to be a cryptic clue to the killer, but I just don't see it, all I found was;

//The village of Beattock is located in the Southern Uplands of Scotland//

It's not the actor's name - that's Albert Welling.

It couldn't be something to do with the periodic table, like the vicar's clue to the murderer, could it? That seems a bit obscure for the Radio Times.
Question Author
Its not helping solve THIS puzzle, but watching the episode again, I spotted this mention of a clue

Running over a dune is an effort (9).....very clever
Beattock- Site of one of Wallace's battles.

That's genius -dannyk13.

I didn't think the Radio Times would be so devious. I've been scouring the film for references, looking at he graves in the chirchyard etc. You've saved me a lot of effort.

I was saying - Hello buster2 - I think you will find that

radiotimes.com/morsecrossword

is not an email address but a web address.

I think you're confused - the clue "Running over a dune is an effort (9)" clued for ENDEAVOUR

The other clue " after beard teased, an exclamation of surprise will bring you home " clues for BREADCRUMBS

At no time did I think either crossword clue led to the name of the murderer OR the answer to the Radio Times Morse crossword.
The plot outline for Sunday 21st April refers to a woman strangled in a train yard. A railway connection. "Pulling up Beattock, a steady climb, The gradient's against her but she's on time." - Night Mail by W H Auden.
Question Author
Thats very interesting, Cockywee. Do you think the Wallace connection was a coincidence, then? Or have they been crafty enough to link two episodes to the crossword? And will there be a link in episodes 3 and 4?
Cockywee's 'connection' (that he seems to have posted everywhere) is hardly that! A railway is involved in the episode 2 plot so he quotes an unconnected poem about trains that mentions Beattock. Come on!
Question Author
Oh! ... Thank you, Quizmonkey! I thought he meant the episode directly quotes that poem.
