Please help , my cat was hit bt a car last night , after £275 vet bill today we have her at home with a broken pelvis and a dislocated hip. The vet has said we gave to keep her still not let her out and it will all repair itself. Is this correct !?? The poor little mite can not stand up her back keg gives way. She is in no pain because of pain killers. But will the hip really reset itself? The vet said she can not do it as she is worried she will cause more trouble.

I cracked my pelvis and dislocated my hip many years ago... it all went back together, and I lived to tell the tale ... or is it tail.?
Poor mite! You must be so worried. I would be unhappy about the decision not to treat these two injuries at least without a second opinion - can you arrnage this?
If the vet says she'll be ok, s/he is probably right.
Just make sure she's comfortable and try to keep things quiet around her.
Cats are pretty resilient wee beasties. I bet she'll pull through ok.
Sorry to hear of the accident, cats are amazingly resilient animals and if the vet reckons she should recover then I'd think that was reasonable advice, after all, the vet could charge you for more work to put it back, as far as I'm aware rest is all that is recommended for fractures of the pelvis in humans.
I don't think there is much apart from rest for humans or animals with a broken pelvis, they can't plaster it or anything like that. My mum was confined to bed with hers. I guess nothing can be done about the hip until the pelvis is mended and ready to receive the hip joint. Poor puss.
you need to get her a puppy cage so she has to rest and only let her out to stretch her legs for a short while when you are in the room we have had to do this with 3 of our cats 1 was caged for over a month , all have made full recoverys xxx
That's a good idea, ruthann - big enough to move about, but not to run around.
I don't think she'll be running anywhere boxy:-(
Thinking about it I had a dog many years ago that cracked his pelvis and the vet said it would heal itself. We used to put a towel underneath the back half of his body and hold it up to take the weight while he did his business in the garden. He felt very sorry for himself for a while but he lived for many years after that.
Mic fell down 2 concrete stairs about 30 years ago. He fractured his hip and pelvis. He refused to stay in hospital as the only treatment was painkillers. so I'm sure you cat will be fine. From a cat lover.
