Hi, my husband had a suspected TIA about 4 weeks ago. He had all the usual tests at hospital and was put on medication.

His initial symptoms were numbness in lips, face, leg and arm on left side along with some tingling. His blood pressure was extremely high.

All the tests were clear, but we don't know the MRI result yet. We are now waiting to go to another appointment on 8 May at which hopefully we will get that result.

The concern now is that he's still getting the same symptoms. At the moment he is lying on the bed because of it.

Do we wait for the appointment or go to A&E. If we do go to A&E what can they do after all the tests he's already had. Don't want to go unnecessarily but also don't want not to go if there's any more they can do.

Can anyone offer any advice about what to do apart from ringing 111.

Thank you.

Are you saying he may be having another TIA? or his symptoms have been constant since the TIA? It wont hurt to phone his GP to ask for advice.
I would go to A&E. a stroke is far more devastating than a TIA.
yes I would take him to A+E and say you are aware that people who have repeated TIAs (ie him) tend to stroke.

and tell us what happened
I cannot see the point in going to A&E as the symptoms are that if a TIA.

He has not developed any different symptoms such as weakness in his face, arms or legs to suggest a cerebral embolism or thrombosis.

I would presume that his high BP is being dealt with.

Thanks for your replies. Actually getting him to go to A&E now that he's feeling a bit better after being sick, is a non-starter I think.

Sqad - He does say that his leg feels weak and like jelly when the numbness occurs but apart from that the symptoms are the same as before, that's why I thought a trip to A&E would be pointless. His high blood pressure is being dealt with, just had his medication dosage upped.

It is worrying though as I would have thought that his medication would have kicked in by now and stopped these symptoms.

I'll see how he goes on and if he gets any worse it's A&E for him.
