Hydrangea

Mrs DG was given an hydrangea as a present.After having it indoors for four
days she transferred it to a pot outside.
Last evening she noticed that most of the white petals on the four heads had turned brown.
Do any of you green-fingered people know the reason for this ?

They are forced if they are flowering now, they don't flower outdoors until the summer - it's too cold and damp at present for an indoor-grown plant. Bring it back in, and put it out around June time.

chilly nights together with the shock of being transferred outside. Hydrangeas don' really like it indoors so Mrs DG is right to move it outside. Keep it sheltered and well watered and it will settle in.

It's way too early and cold for hydrangeas. If it was bought in flower at this time of year it's been forced and should have remained inside, a heated conservatory is ideal.

Surprising, I am far south and mine are in shelter but they are already well into growth and showing first tiny buds
