Cat soiling problem ?

Our two young female cats (sisters) are about 10 months old, we have a cat flap which they use with no problems, after months of both going outside to do their business as normal, one of them has gone backwards and started doing it inside again ? Under the fireplace in our kitchen ! Not Nice ! anybody experienced this ? and is there any products etc that will repel her ?

One of my cats started to do this. If you go to the pet shop you can find something to clean the areas where the cat is doing its business. I've got some stuff called "cat spray & urine stain & odor remover" the cat will keep going back to the place where it smells that it has been before. Then to further discourage it, I found a spray called "Get Off" that can be used inside and out. you have to keep on applying it for a while untill the cat gets the message. This is what i did the time my cat started doing her business on my favourate rug. seemed to work.

The cat might not like going outside to go to the toilet so think about getting the litter tray back out. one of my cats still uses it occationaly.

Probably just a case of preferring an indoor loo at this time of year! Kittiecris's suggestions are very good indeed.

our eldest cat (only 8months herslef) took to doing this and I read somewhere they dont like strong smells so I bought some Lemon Pepper ( you can get in super merkets amongst the dry herbs) and sprinkled a little bit in places where she would like to go, front/back door rugs, below curtains, underneath the bed side table and she hasn't been back to any of them since and will use the litter tray provided.

Sometimes when a cat has changed it's soiling habits, it's either something has changed from the norm or medical(it's a trip to a vet to rule this out), Something has changed: example:they were afraid of going back out, if another cat scared her or is bullying her, she may think it's safer to come in and go, clean up the mess with a cleaner with an enzyme type action in it like Nature's Miracle (just like kittiecris says) and put a repellant down, but make sure and GIVE them somewhere to go like the others suggest

It also could be because something has scared your cat when its been outside, like another cat or something. Mine did same thing years ago and turned out a male cat was useing the area she used and she didnt take kindly to it.

Also, daft as it sounds, if it uses one area outside all the time normally then it might be full and it cant find anywhere to dig. My B/F has to re-dig the garden regular and remove 'lumps' as my cats start using the lawn as a toilet if the flowerbeds are too full.
