I am due to make a very rare trip up to Town by train, into Paddington. Does anyone know if there is WiFi to be had on the train ? I notice some long-distance coaches advertise that they have it.

Thanks WyeDyed...is it free and do you need a key password to get in ?
In my experience, provision can be very hit and miss - if you have a dongle, I'd be inclined to take that and use it instead

Thanks...I didn't think it would work in the Severn Tunnel !
As I was writing my reply, I was wondering that. I've travelled from Swansea to Paddington several times but never with my lappy.
They do have mains plugs. I'll see what I can find out.
it may vary with train operators mikey, round here you have to sign in to the providers system and I think you only get about 30 mins free which was another reason I gave it up as a bad job
^that, and the flippin' plugs not working wyed

Thanks WyeDyed...by a strange coincidence, that is EXACTLY the journey I shall be making next month ! Isn't it a small world !
It's a nice run now that you can go straight through without changing in Cardiff.
Reading Sloopy's posts, I would suggest taking a crossword with you, just in case.
on FGW, wifi is only available on their class180 trains, which usually operate the cotswold route (Cheltenham/Worcester/Oxford/London); this is a trial that started at the beginning of the year.
funnily enough wyed, that's always in the briefcase, in the same pocket as the kindle :)
It'll be First Great Western trains.
Got to go to work now, I'll check in later to see if you've found anything concrete.
