Looking For A Movie Title
8 Answers
I need help in solving a movie title. It's about an old train film that my brother and I used to watch as little boys back in the 80's. We can’t recall its name but we still share fond memories of various scenes that we saw repeatedly over the years.
I've looked at previews of similar films and gone through comprehensive movie lists but I can't seem to nail it. The closest movie appears to be Von Ryan's express, but having seen the preview, I've ruled it out. The movie we have in mind is most also likely set during the war, possibly during the 2nd world war. I've listed below a scrappy description of some of the scenes I have in mind:
1. The train in powered by coal and has allied soldiers on it, with another train having Nazi or enemy soldiers on it in hot pursuit.
2. Some of the allied soldiers occupy a certain carriage which is then detached from the main train and let to run its course on a derailed track.
3. There's a hefty civilian (I think he's called Max) who works tirelessly with sweat all over him as he tries to derail the detached carriage using a huge spanner once the main train passes through.
4. The derailed carriage is then directed towards a warehouse of sorts where it comes to a crashing halt.
5. There's a scene where the train tracks are hidden with bushes and shrubs before being quickly uncovered by the same civilian.
6. There's also a scene where one/some of the soldiers have to catch up with the derailed carriage by running after it and dramatically grabbing onto the extended hands of fellow soldiers who pull them onto the carriage.
7. Another scene has one/some of the soldiers hiding underneath the carriage of the train being supported with a series of belts with the train tracks very close underneath them.
8. For some reason, the soundtrack of "Chariots of Fire" resonates with the ending of the movie.
Any idea of what movie that might have been? Thanks a lot for your help.

Searches via Google, MSN and IMDB don't really throw up many other possibilities.
