Peugeot 106 Lexus lights

I bought some Lexus style rear lights for my girlfriend's car but even though I have connected them correctly the offside ones don't work properly. When you indicate/brake the wrong bulbs illuminate. Is this some sort of earthing problem, and how do I fix it?
