Just had a call on my house phone, man with Indian type accent,
told me he is from a computer server company and they have detected a problem with my computer,
but its not a problem and they can help me to fix it.
I stopped him there and said 'I haven't got a computer love'
He backtracked quickly and said his information must be wrong and put the phone down on me.

What sort of Idiots do they take us for?

Just be aware people, my friends son was caught this way, and his computer was wiped , and he paid for them to do it !

Used to get a lot of them before we moved (in Jan) but none since then,

I used to get these calls about once a month. I used to enjoy giving them the runaround and acting the technophobe.
They don't call me now so I'll bet they all keep a list of the 'phone numbers.

Tell them you've got a Mac. They immediately give up and ring off.
Or do as I do - ask them which of my computers they mean. When they ask how many I've got, I say
" You claim to know all about my computer, you tell me which one you're talking about. " Their script doesn't cover that one.

Have you got a junk/spam filter, desky? Just delete them otherwise. YOu OUGHT to back up your computer regularly, but don't do it based on a spam salesman.
