As I am not good on techi - if I wanted to How would I start off to download Skype. Also - how much is thank you.

Skype to Skype is free, so anyone you want to contact via Skype has to have it installed too.

I bought a logitech web cam which is clipped on top of computer so others can see and hear you, though I understand some computers have them built in already.

thanks I have done all what you have suggested and got the Skype downloaded - now next question - when my friend came from Australia 2 years ago - I do not have webcam - but she was able to bring her husband up on the side of my screen and while he could hear her talk she typed her answers back - cos he could no hear talk. Would I need a web cam (that would be no probs) I know it clips onto screen but where would plug go into at the back of the hard drive. Thanks

Mine goes into slot on front of computer. Same one I use for USB stick or to download pix off camera etc. I also have headphones which I put in another slot to augment the one on the webcam. The beauty of Skype is it is all free.

Any usb port - like where you might plug in a usb memory stick.

Regarding use of Skype, I suggest you do a "training call" with someone you know who already has it. There's no better way to get to grips with it.

I meant to say I had an extra mike I plug in but some people I talk to also have headset like Ab Editor suggests.

I use a cheap headset, too.
