Is the fitting of electronic tags on dementia sufferers a good idea or is it barbaric?

A good idea. Florrie (A good friend) would not have ended up drowned in the river Frome when she wandered away from the hospital, not knowing where she was or where she was going, if this had been available those many years ago. I reckon it will save lives.

It's the fact that on a short term basis a dementia sufferer can seem totally normal that hurts, a witty and funny sufferer can still be witty and funny in a conversation but ask them about anything they've said in that conversation 5 minutes later and they don't even remember they've had the conversation.

When people can't even deal with walking in a straight line for 200m to get to the shop and end up getting lost then, yes.. tag them if that's barbaric than I'm happy to be a barbarian in this instance.

Yes, it was not nice headwreck, but many years ago. This brought it back to my mind. Even worse for her husband and son. And the sorrow that although we tried (especially the men) we did not find her in time.
