Solitaire for Windows 98
7 Answers
Hi, My sister has a Gateway PC which is running Windows 98 and all it is used for is playing kids games. She likes to play the card games (Solitaire, Freecell, Hearts etc.) that come bundled in with Windows but for some reason these games have been uninstalled from the computer. We've tried going into Add/Remove Programs - Windows Setup and reinstalling them that way but it keeps asking for the Windows 98 Installation CD which we don't have because everything was pre-installed when the PC was purchased. My question is - is it possible to download these Microsoft programs from anywhere? Tried the Microsoft website and did a quick search on Google with no luck.

I've just googled about 20+ sites for Freecell and Solitaire, but most of them are Shareware so after a 15 day trial you will have to pay roughly 7. Not a large amount for a huge bundle of games but winning is better if it's free so try this site:

...can't see any reason why you can't do that...or use a floppy. Just copy the sol.exe file onto the floppy or whatever and paste it to your desktop....if it doesn't work you won't do any damage.
Are you sure you have deleted the files and not just the shortcuts?...try a search of the HD for sol.exe. In my WinXP they all live in the C/Windows/System32 folder so maybe you might get lucky....good luck ..commoner ;-)
