Mother has to monitor her urine output over three days. I was thinking of getting her some cardboard bed pans for the toilet but not sure how often they could be reused.

Get her a cheap plastic jug, it is what they made me use in hospital when they needed to check my output.
Use them once only I think!
once, maybe twice. You can't wash them as the minute anything hot or soapy is put on them, they start to dissolve. cheapo plastic jug is much easier, get a nice big one, the 2 litre size if you can, easy to measure, light and easy to rinse. If you use anything like a bedpan, then the wee needs decanting inro something else to be measured.

Mother tried a jug with little success. Yes I know they are designed to be used once but 3 days of toileting does rather add up to a lot of bed pans.

shallow plastic bowl? what was the problem with the jug?
what about a bidet pan (washable) or a plastic kidney dish? - or just go to the pound shop and buy a cheap potty, that would be ideal!
from my personal experience of them, they are only used once, then disposed of, surely considering their simple construction you should be able to get a lot of them for not a lot of money
