A place that i don't work for paid me this month ( i presume in the whole jiggling around of the NHS i somehow got on someone's list to pay; wrongly)
Anyway, have just had to call them to arrange to get the money back to them, how horrible. Wouldn't it be nice f we were all paid double amounts every now and then?

It'd certainly be nice if they told you that they couldn't be bothered with all the admin to reclaim it, and so you could keep it! :o)
Six years ago I quit a job and moved onto another. They paid me for the next three months. Naughty, so naughty, but I never flagged it up and fortunately they have never chased me up. My brain gave me the excuse of 'they deserved it, they treated my like dirt'. I know I was in the wrong, my conscience wouldn't allow me to do that now.

wouldn't it? I did wrestle with my conscience for a few days about whether to call them or not, but reasoned they would probably keep paying me and it'd muck up my tax position

sorry my answer was to jack
i sort of felt the same AC, they treated me badly and i wanted to keep it
Yeah it can do that when you are almost in the supertax bracket.
But you could always sell your Rolls to your kids at a loss to compensate.
one time when i was working in the nHS, I was travelling a lot but the mileage was taxable...one month the lady who did my salary changed and the new lady decided that my mileage was NOT taxable and sent me that months mileage untaxed and a whole years tax repayment. I had the sad job of phoning her and quoting the Tax office rule that meant that I was right and she was wrong....deeply painful.

Some companies pay employees a 13th month as a Christmas bonus. Not many of them though; does anyone here have that experience?
On the continent, like in Belgium, it is 15 payments, the monthly plus a month for Christmas, one for the Summer Hols paid in May and then the bonus....though effectively, the year is 14 equal payments - works quite nicely though budgeting.
I've gone full circle and now get paid weekly again (although it is a week later) - I like it
