For those of you in gainful employment, or education, when was the last time you used a fax machine. Must have been about 10 years ago for me.

No it's not an email attachment Hopkirk, that's different, it's an E-Fax- you fax to someone's Fax machine.
Oh, OK.
2006 - I chucked it out when I moved into my new house as being more trouble than it was worth. Most stuff is scanned and emailed to me anyway.
Yesterday.
Tuesday, used all the time at my place of work - what is the modern replacement then?
E mail attachment Prudie
I probably send 10 attachments to e-mails a day. No good for docs requiring signatures and scanning is a pain.
A few days ago Auctioneers still have them; they like you to sent bids by fax because they can see the signature and they can file the paper straight away, which is easier than having the thing on a screen. And solicitors still have them, perhaps for security (and I wish they'd use them more often rather than sending attachments without any mailed hard copy. Grrr)
Fax is more reliable than snail mail and gives proof of posting. Ofcourse the recepient needs there fax switched on
last year, from an internet cafe, as i had to get a document to a government dept quickly, and it cost me over 8 quid, never again..
