Sky Digibox boffins required!!

I have had Sky Digital for about 2 1/2 years, but got rid of my landline telephone about 6 months after having Sky installed. In this time I have been happily ordering (and watching) Box Office films. I have had channels removed and added, automatically (you know, when you phone Sky and they can change your viewing package there and then as long as your Digibox is on). But on Saturday, when I tried to order a film, it came up with 'sorry there is insufficient credit on your viewing card'. When I phoned Techie support, the guy said that my Viewing card is full and that I have not been charged for any films as Sky can't connect to my Digibox as I have no phone line, and that as long as I don't re-connect my landline, I will probably never be charged. Is all this correct, and if so, how come Sky can do everything else but work out what films I've watched (and yes I did check the parental settings).

The satellite link is only one way, so it's quite easy for sky to send a signal to your individual digibox but can't ask it what it has viewed.... so they are right - they only know what you have watched if the box can 'phone home'. BUT, the digibox also uses the phone link to do such things as load new firmware (to keep the box up to date with available services), so you may possibly find the box not working as expected at some point!

There is a spending limit on the card (about 50 quid I think) once you have ordered box office films to that limit you will not be able to order any more until the sky box has been connected to a phone line you will then of course be charged for the films you have watched. I have a feeling that the watched film data may also be stored in your digibox so having an accident with the card may not be a way to advoid paying + Sky will probably charge you for a replacement.
