Sections of Oranges or Satsumas are called?

Does anyone know the correct term for a section of an orange, or satsuma?

Someone in my office thinks it's a "Pig" - but the dictionary (and an internet search) have not confirmed this.

i usually just call them segments.

'Pig' was used in the 19th century to mean a segment of fruit such as an orange. Even in the case of an apple cut up, the same word applied. I have to admit, I have never heard it used thus in my - long! - lifetime, however.

I should, perhaps, have added above that this is the same idea as is contained in the phrases 'a pig of iron' or 'a pig of salt'...both suggesting an oblong block of the material.

My 5 year old daughter calls them monkeys!

When I was a kid we called them 'cogs' - don't know if this is a regional thing (I'm from Yorkshire)

" Scrummy" would be the terminology I would use but only if it referred to a segment of Terrys Chocolate Orange....mmmmmmmmm
