For me, when I was about 25 got very drunk and shared a bedroom with my mother. I kept on kissing and kissing her whereby she blamed on pernod. In factual in those days my drinks had been spiked. I got up next morning naked as the baby was born full of embarrassment had to face my mother and say "Sorry" for last night mum - oh she said you would have done it for me. I have never forgot those words and I am 60. what were the nicest words said to you.
"Blimey, I thought you were dead!" The speaker hadn't seen me for years; I had been ill then. He assumed that I'd died in the meantime. Sounds odd, but I felt so happy because I suddenly realised and remembered how true it nearly was, and it hadn't turned out that way
The nicest thing anyone ever said to me was a military chap checking my pass many years ago. He looked at me and the pass with my date of birth on it and said, no. No. You can't be. (I always did look young for my age, but this from a complete stranger I have never forgotten)
Something of this ^^^ nature came to mind when I read the original post. I read it several times, thinking I'd missed out something, but, I see I did not. ChuckF post confirmed that...
When I was admitted to hospital with a suspected heart attack the doctor asked how long I'd been smoking. When I said 48 years he said no I didn't ask your age.
The daughter said "Should have gone to Specsavers".............
