I can't imagine there are many job opportunities in the area, even if you're not a heroin addict

Exactly! I don't think they enjoy that way of life. They all seemed pretty desperate and fed up to me.

that's precisely why so many of them probably don't go to school. everything is stacked against them. it must be almost impossible to break away if that's all you've ever known.

To some extent people should really take responsibilty for their own actions.
There are many, many broke & or single parents struggling to bring up a family.
But it does not mean their children are rude, disobedient, druggies ect, not too sure about this 'role model' excuse either, my sons father died when he was 14 but I didnt let him off with being ferel & run around the streets.

Similar to Sara3 says on the previous page, my friends also lived on a sink estate in London, when things got really bad she got a Council exchange & took her kids out the area.
