Main ID change on AOL

Friend jumped the gun when installing AOL for first time and has ended up with a stupid log on name with 8 numbers after it. I haven't got Aol but can anyone tell me if they can change it to something of their choosing thus giving them a half decent email address?

With AOL you can set up a number of screen names with individual passwords and can log onto AOL with any of them. The only time you may need the main screen name is dealing with billing and technical queries with AOL.
