Carnations

I have been given a beautiful bunch of carnations. The colour is antique,but there are no green bits on them to take a cutting. Is there a way of propogating them from the flowers. Long shot I know,but worth asking.

I think you do it from the stems that have off shoots. I vaguely remember my mum used to root them in water
