trying to sell my x-trail but not having any luck.its a 4 x 2, not a 4 x 4, 56 plate. on my third try with autotrader and the only replies are with agencies like market trader uk
who say they have buyers and they will finance the deal but i need to register for 80, 50 ,110, each one are different but promiser to advertise untill sold or money back.
i would like to know if anyone has had any luck with these people and selling their car this way or is it just rubbish?

Assuming no obvious faults there is only one reason why a car won't sell, price, that's it. Most of the cars in autotrader etc are way way way overpriced. you see it flatters the owner but the car won't sell. Most people believe that auto trader sell cars, they don't they sell advertising, they couldn't give a monkeys whether you sell it or not. Check the value on parkers and as the current climate is bad put it on for 90% of the "private good" price. Drop until it sells it's th eonly way.
H Terence, to sell your motor advertise it well, give every bit of detail you can, spec, mileage, service, cam belt change etc, the price has to be right especialy the way things are going ( Big Car Big petrol) Give out the tax price, Mileage per Galon, colour interior any extras if advertised well, it will sell.
thank you all for your advice. i have said no to these people.
the car was nearly sold at 9k. and when he saw the logbook with 2 owners, instead of one in the ad he dropped it to 8.5k.it was registered by nissan, and we bought it at 9 months old with 3700 on the clock.we felt we were the first owners and said no to the lower offer.this was 6 weeks ago and book value was 10.3k
time will show if it was right, we may have to keep it but its a nice car and thats life.
thanks again

In the current climate mate I'd have ripped his arm off at the elbow, for sake of a monkey you're stuck with it. It's worth less every day and recession etc etc will only make it worse. Cars are not making book as I said above 90% of book is about right. You'll be lucky to get 7.5 now let alone 8.5.
