Aperture For A Picture Frame
8 Answers
I have been trying to Google how to make an aperture for a picture frame to go around a cross stitch picture but all I get is a lot of IT speak for making apertures for cameras and other things but nothing even near what I want.
Can anybody help me to formulate the question so I can get instructions for what I need?

You can get mount board from Hobbycraft. You can cut out the aperture with a stanley knife(new blade for each mount essential). Careful measuring and marking and using a metal straight edge to guide the blade. You can get a bevelled inside edge by holding the blade at an angle. You need extreme accuracy at the corners. Small mistakes can be corrected with fine sandpaper, otherwise do a complete new cut. It is almost impossible to do small corrections with a knife. Do the cutting on something like heavy fibre board (half inch) which allows the blade to go right through the mount board and is heavy enough to stay put. I've done a lot of these for photos that I have sold, but you need to practice on cheap card or cardboard because mount board isn't cheap and mistakes are very easy to make.
