I do and have put reviews on, usually only bad ones though - which suggests there may be bias to all the reviews.

yes I do, its good as a guide but like any 'rating' site it tends to attract reviews from people that have had a negative experience rather than a positive one.

You have to do a fair bit of reading between the lines to work out which reviews have been submitted by people who are impossible to please and places that do have a definite problem.

I know too many people who have posted bad reviews for spurious reasons for me to view Trip advisor comments as unbiased

I used to use it a lot but not so much these days. Looking at these answers it may not be as good as it was if people are submitting just anything. If people tend to submit bad reports it might be worth looking at what people say in the good reports to make up your mind.

No, I have never used it to read or write reviews.

I am terrible when it comes to leaving feedback and reviews like on Ebay or Amazon, although I do leave feedback when I used the Contact Us button, asked a question and got a reply.

I use it and have found a better balance of good and bad than expected. I read and post in equal measure and find it especially useful when the reports are form visitors rather than local experts as they have experienced things with similar expectations as me.

I do, I post after holidays. I find that people will post about excellent experiences and absolutely dire ones, nothing in the middle.

i think most people only feel compelled to write a review when they have a bad experience simply because we expect good service as standard, and don't feel anything unusual has happened if we come away satisfied.

i wouldn't take any notice of voting or totals etc - because they are uneven but content of the reviews is worth looking at

as said though some people are unreasonable and overly picky and expect unreasonable things and blame the hotel for stuff they cant control - like the weather or noise outside etc.

i have only ever written one review - when i was furious that a B&B owner had been in my room and thrown some of my belongings away - because he felt they were making the room look untidy ... there were other things that were rotten about the place, but that was the final straw.

I used to go to a lovely hotel in Wales and noticed it being rubbished on Trip Advisor, so I wrote a good review and said how much we enjoyed staying there and kept going back. I felt really sorry for the owner, a lovely man.

I use it and I write reviews which are honest and, I feel, fair. I have also answered questions for people who ask for more detail. However, one place I reviewed seemed to have it's own 'pet' reviewers who always post a positive review as soon as someone else posts a negative one.
