I have a peugot 306 turbo diesel its a great car but its smokes like hell,could it be the injectors need replacing or something else,thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It does depend on what colour the smoke is, part burnt or excess fuel or insufficient air causes black smoke, indicating that injectors, pump, blocked fuel supply or tank pickup, blocked fuel or air filter or turbo etc. need attention.
Blue smoke is usually caused by engine wear or a dead cylinder and white is unburnt hot fuel vapour caused by insufficient compression.
