Any James Herbert Fans Out There?

I was gutted when I heard that James Herbert had died a few weeks ago! He's my very favourite Horror Writer. I would have loved to have met him, but now I never will! Trouble is, when I read his books, there's no one I can talk to about it. I was reading his last ever book, ASH when he died. Since then, I've read NOBODY TRUE and I love to hear what other readers thought of it. What a superbly BRILLIANT book! Now I'm reading MOON and have decided that James Herbert must have been a genius! A bit sick, yes, but I love it! Anyone else feel the same?

James Herbert was my introduction to the horror genre back when I started high school many years ago. I read the 'Rats' series first and moved on to the rest afterwards. I haven't read anything by him for a long time now, but along with Stephen King he had a huge influence on my reading tastes.

Mrs zeuhl knew him very well when he was a neighbour back in the 70s

We never worked with him when we were in publishing but he always had a good reputation as a straight forward unpretentious guy

The Fog gave me nightmares too, Mcfluff! I've read several of his books and quite enjoyed them.

I've read a couple if his books --The Rats, The Fog.--fantastic.
One of these days will get to read them all--when the p.c packs up no doubt!

I only discovered him about 6 months or so ago when I decided to read rather than watch The Secret of Crickley Hall. Since then I have read The Dark,The Magic Cottage and Haunted. I have a few others on my shelves waiting until I next want to be terrified. :-)

I read quite a few of his books following on from a Stephen King phase when I was younger.

I found The Fog quite disturbing, not very nice reading.

I loved THE RATS but I think my favourite so far has to be NOBODY TRUE. I've had some pretty weird "dream" experiences myself so I was well and truly hooked on this book. It just made so much sense to me. . . . in a strange kind of way.
