Fixing A Cable To A Catenary Wire

We are putting up a catenary wire from house to outbuilding, for a cat5e external quality cable, double insulated. is it sufficient to cable strap the cable to the wire, or should some other method be used. the catenary is the proper stuff, galvanised braided stranded wire etc.

when i've run overhead cables to my sheds i used alkathene pipe strapped to the wire with the cable inside so there is no chance of any part of cable being exposed to the elements. i then used normal domestic cable rated for my needs. i've also used the same buried under concrete. the way i see it is you cant get anything more waterproof than water pipe.

Pipe conduit is a good way to do it, providing both open ends are either indoors, or sealed up.

Otherwise, standard cable ties are best. Don't use insulation tape, as it unravels in the wet.
