why are matters of love associated with the heart?

It should be the brain but must have something to do with the rushes of blood.

It is fair to say that when you have heartache you do mainly feel it in your heart area. Also when you get palpitations and nerves on falling for someone that tends to be there too, doesn't it?

It was onced believed that emotions were controlled by various organs of the body. Of course this was totally irrational but in the abscence of scientific knowledge it gave them an explantion, much like another subject which keeps cropping up here.
