I was out walking along a remote part of a dry canal yesterday and heard a loud clicking sound. It was like 2 pebbles being struck together, regularly at just less than 1 second intervals. I crossed the bed to invesigate but it was from deep in a bed of nettles. No amount of disturbance, clapping hands or shouting made any difference. What was it?
