Hopefully we will be moving to Wales beginning of July, we are currently with Sky for our Broadband, how much notice do we need to give or can they just switch from one address to another, we cant really be without internet for very long.
We are moving at the end of the month and although we know the date we are moving we cannot order the broadband for some reason until the other people have left and given up the line, then apparently it will be 10 days minimum :(
Ok, thanks Shar, that will be a pain! We can get the line at the new address early but I think it always takes about 10-14 days for a connection. that will mean no internet for 14 days grrrr.
Ratter - It will be worth checking your new postcode to check your broadband speed. I don't know how remote you will be but the speed can drop off drastically. The is a booster with a good "3" 3G signal but once again, it depends weather you can see it or not.
Depends if your property has Internet with anyone else, when I moved the last occupier had BT Internet and because I was with Orange I had to wait 3 weeks for BT to clear the line
The property is quite remote, I never really thought of that, we are thinking about a tablet on 3g, that maybe the answer if there is a 3g signal there.
There is a Welsh Assembly grant available (until September, I think) to have Satellite Broadband installed if you can show that your Line speed is under a certain amount. It all depends on how far from the exchange you are.
If you go to the 3 website you can check the availability of 3G for you postcode, I'm not sure on other providers but can say that Vodafone is not good.
Thanks guys, I will follow up on these suggestions today and see what I can find out. It isn't too remote, I think civilisation is about 3 miles away being a small town (Rhayader)
In rural Wales its sometimes not easy to get a good speed for your internet. Don't forget, that although you say you have it with Sky, it will be BT that provides the telephone line....no cable near Rhayadar.
