Today a teenager was showing me his latest samsung mobile phone. I asked him was it better than the I- phone. His reply was " this is a bad phone!"
I replied "it's no good then!"
He replied "no when I say bad I mean good!"
This puzzles me why say bad if you mean good.
Have I lost touch. What does anyone else think?

No wicked isn't used much. 'Bad' and 'sick' for good are both pretty common and I don't mind that too much, but I think people talking 'street' are generally pretty ridiculous. What I really hate is ' Essex speak'
' OMG that's totes reem!'
OMG that's totes reem!'

And what does this ^^ mean?
It's Essex speak, which I hate and it loosely means ' It is totally glamourous and wonderful and beautiful to the extreme'.
Reem is a corrupted Swedish word that people in TOWIE use. It actually makes me shudder.

Well thats currently the case I suppose with the resurging popularity, but we said it when I was growing up in the 70s. Not sure if it was meant to be a shortened version of 'supreme' (or pukka) or if the ladies of the day were fondly referring to one lucky chappy Harry Reems from some mucky 70s film and we just picked it up.
Thanks, you two. x
That's boss man!
Regardless of gender I have been frequently called "bro"
i was talking to daughter and grandaughter about the language used today and they both laughed when i said why not use sensible words like cool, far out and groovy lol
I thought REEM was short for supreme.
I'm from Essex and Oh My God we totes DONT all speak like that.
Where I am, something good is MINT!
Same here Stephen.
My 15 year old daughter replied to my text the other day. Her text said "We". I thought she'd started text, given up and sent it by mistake. It took me a few minutes to realise it meant "whatever!"
I'm just waiting for the 'gay' community to come up with a new name now that 'gay' means bad or terrible in teen talk.
A wish not to conform because they are teenagers and teenagers should rebel. They are conforming by rebelling and conforming with other teenagers.
Just go with the the flow until they grow out of it. You will be conforming with them which will make them even more confused.
