Banking Jobs - Salary

Does anyone know the average wage of a banker? Perhaps cashiers and customer advisors, not the big guys at the top!

depends on where in the country you are but on average i would expect it to be around �12,000 per annum

you can actually find salary checkers all over the net.... on most of the major job search websites and on msn money i think..... you type in the job and the area you live and it provides you with an average although i did it a few years ago and found i was apparently being underpaid by loads!! ah well can't be helped eh!

I was offered �13,000 last year from Bradford & Bingley. I was expected to sell products though (insurance etc.) to get commission. This was to work 8.30 - 5.30 mon-fri and also sat 8.30 til 1.30pm, so not a great hourly rate at all!

I did not take the job!!

jelly baby if that salary was with commission on top it seems pretty good or at least standard for the type of work to be honest....if it was including the commission however then you're right its pretty naff

mkt - I think it was about �15,000 with commission but there was so much emphasis placed on sales and I wanted to be a cashier not a sales person.

I don't like it when I go into my bank to pay in a cheque or whatever and they start asking when my home insurance is due!

8.5-15k pa depens on experience in banking and experience in general...

the more sales, admin and cust services the better - if you can get a temp job for 6 months doi data entry in a bank head office it will make applicatioins easier - having been there and done it though i honestly would rethink the banking route - as an experienced administrator you can earn as much as a bank manager but dont have to work weekends... if wanting to work in a bank think barclays international, chase manattan, jp morgan for good prospects and money
